Lake Huron roots
Surfing the freshwater shorelines
We surf Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. No salt. No sharks. Just pure freshwater joy…

The CALLING
Every which way the wind blows
Out of the water, the vibe is purely relaxed and rooted in classic beach-town camaraderie. Surfers and beachgoers gather to, watch Sauble’s famous Lake Huron sunsets.
While casual beachgoers flock to the beach in the summer, true Great Lakes surfers live for the intense spring and autumn windstorms. Armed with thick wetsuits, hoods, and booties to ward off the frigid Great Lake waters, we live for swells generated by heavy low pressure winds.
The Sauble Beach Surf Club represents a passionate, resilient community of freshwater surfers who brave the unique, demanding conditions of the Great Lakes. Based at Sauble Beach, Ontario—celebrated as one of the longest freshwater beaches in the world—we are the dedicated surfers who ride waves across the entire Canadian coastline of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Embracing a true “ice out to ice in” lifestyle, our community thrives on the intense autumn and winter storms that generate the region’s best waves, proving that incredible surf culture exists far beyond traditional ocean coasts.
